It’s a battle of Western Conference heavyweights tonight, as the Erie Otters travel to Budweiser Gardens to take on the Knights.
Erie and London are tied for first place in Ontario Hockey League standings. One of these teams can boast league supremacy with a win, even if only for one day.
London has won their last 2 games, scoring 18 goals in that span. It began with a convincing 7-2 win over the Ottawa 67s on Friday night, and ended with an 11-2 thrashing over the Niagara IceDogsĀ on Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Otters have won 3 games in a row, and 4 of their last 5. That includes convincing wins over Kitchener (5-0) and Sarnia (8-2).
It’s been an interesting season series between these two teams to say the least. London crushed Erie 6-2 in their first meeting at the end of September. Erie exacted revenge just weeks later, crushing the Knights 7-1.
Adding to the excitement of the game is the fact that these are the two top scoring teams in the OHL. Erie is first with 200 goals scored, while London sits close behind with 192. The next best is Sault Ste. Marie with 188.
After tonight, the Knights head to Owen Sound to play the Attack, who have won 15 games in a row. After that, it’s off to Oshawa, to play the top team in the Eastern Conference. It’ll be a tough weekend.
The Knights will be hoping to get a win tonight, and visit some very good teams as the first place team in the Ontario Hockey League. Erie will want the title just as bad.
Something has to give tonight, and it will at Budweiser Gardens.
Puck drop is set for 7:30.
