The Superbowl is tomorrow. The game will see the Seattle Seahawks face the New England Patriots at the University of Phoenix in Glendale, Arizona.
This is the first time in a decade that an NFL team will play in back to back Superbowls. The Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos last year 43-8. The last time a team played in consecutive Superbowls was in 2004 and 2005 with the Patriots playing both years.
For many people, the Superbowl is a time to party with friends and family, eat pizza and wings, and have a beer or two, or three. At Fanshawe, there seems to be a good mix of people who are die-hard NFL fans, and always party for the game, and those who couldn’t care less about it.
When asked if they will be watching the game tomorrow, some students replied, “Absolutely, I always do”, “No, I am working…whose even playing?” “It’s just an excuse for everyone to hang out and get together” “Yeah, I like watching because I am in football pools and have some money on it”
There was also a student who didn’t mind admitting that she only cheered for the team with the best looking players. In this case, New England’s Tom Brady takes the cake.
Before the game, the voice behind Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen, Idina Menzel will sing the national anthem and John Legend will perform America the Beautiful. The half time show will see performances by Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz.
Kickoff is at 6:30pm.
