On Saturday, Western University’s annual Charity Ball celebrated yet another successful year.
This year, the Charity Ball Planning Committee chose Growing Chef’s Ontario as the beneficiary to receive the charity donation. Furthermore, they designed the night to be a “Secret Garden” theme towards the group. The non-profit organization is dedicated to teaching kids the importance of healthy cooking and how to have fun while doing it.
Last year, Charity Ball successfully raised 20,000 dollars for London’s Waitlist Clinic with a guest list totaling 3500 people. This year, the goal was to raise the same amount of money with a downsized more intimate guest list of 1500. The finalized donation numbers are not yet released, but they believe it could be close in comparison.
As for the budget, local sponsors and the USC help to cover initial costs until the event can break even and then further raise money for the beneficiary.
Something they added to this year’s celebration was having three separate dance floors for different styles of music and dancing. This included the upstairs VIP lounge, the main ballroom, and a basement area for electronic music. The added VIP section featured appetizers, champagne, and a separate lounge area.
The nature themed event took place Saturday January 31st at Centennial Hall.
