The Fanshawe Falcons may have lost in the quarter finals of the CCAA National Men’s Volleyball Championship, but there was no shortage of support for the team.
The school hosted a pep rally at Forwell Hall just hours before the Falcons’ game, and over a hundred fans were on hand to pump up the players.
That included a performance from the Fanshawe dance team, prizes, and individual player introductions.
Kimberly Francis is the VP of Athletics and Student Life at the College, and also the organizer of the event.
“It’s very important to me because this is our home away from home,” she explains.
“I want to ensure that everyone feels welcome, everyone feels at home, and we just have a great time while we’re here.”
After a disappointing OCAA Championship in Hamilton, in which the Falcons lost to the Durham Lords in the semi-finals, the team was hoping to bounce back in the National Championship on home soil.
Unfortunately, they ran into a defending champion Red Deer Kings team, who beat them in straight sets.
After a hard fought 5-set win against the Mohawk Mountaineers, the Falcons will be playing the Camosun Chargers Saturday morningĀ at 10 a.m.
Regardless of the disappointing result, the team will be consoled by the great support they’ve been shown by their fans all season long.
