The 2018-2019 OHL season is just around the corner, as puck drops at 7:30 tonight for the London Knights home opener at Budweiser Gardens. London welcomes the Windsor Spitfires to the Bud, which is guaranteed to be an exciting game. Both the Knights and the Spitfires finished middle of the pack last season, but with talented returning faces, and young new comers both teams are looking to make a bit more of a push this year.
Knights third year veteran Alex Turko says that having the first game of the season at home is definitely an advantage because the fans at the bud give the boys the “extra boost we need”. He also added that each player had a great off season and that pre season went well so “all of us are excited to kick off regular season”.
Last season the Knights finished middle of the pack in the regular season and were swept in the first round of playoffs by the Owen Sound Attack. When reflecting on last season Turko said “we were a young group of guys heading into playoffs last year, and we learned from the series with Owen Sound that every second matters”. With more experience in the lineup this season the Knights are feeling confident.
The Spitfires also lost in the first round of the playoffs last season to the Sarnia Sting. Turko spoke about this years Spitfires roster and said “they are young with a lot of talent, this is a huge rivalry game so we know they are going to come out hard”. With four rookies in this years lineup the Spits are going to come out fast.
Puck drop for the London Knights 2018-2019 season opener is tonight, 7:30 at Budweiser Gardens.
