We live in a time where our experiences are controlled by our social media posts.
Time and energy has been focused around building digital personal brands. Online users often post a lifestyle they aspire to be.
Social media control
Social media has gained control of personal experiences. Most experiences are now documented with the intent to be posted. The user often attends events with the intent to get a post, rather than a thrill of experience. People have become crafted to rearrange surroundings with an attempt to get a good picture.
Judgments
We have reached a new social norm where first impressions don’t trump social media influence. First impressions have little meaning, unless two people have exceeded the same social following. New leagues have been created based beyond looks and personality; popularity is now conveyed through social media. Depending on how many followers, likes and views are achieved now declares self-worth.
The addiction of social media provides a platform to feed user egos and helps give a sense of self worth.
