A perfect place to take your family for breakfast or lunch. The bag lady is a great family restaurant that runs 7 days a week from 8 am to 3pm on weekdays and 10:00 am to 2pm on weekends. The restaurant is made up of 4 or 5 tables and a sofa lounge. Hundreds of things like 1960s coca cola collectibles and very old tea cups and tea pots just things of a older nature. When asked about the demographic head cook Dan smith said “ we get a lot of older people. It really reminds them of their childhood, and then we also get a lot of students from western.” When talking to customers i noticed that a lot of them where seniors but after talking to them all of them said it wasn‘t just the atmosphere that was driving them to the restaurant it was the great food as well. The bag lady offers breakfast and lunch foods and a variety of them. Everyone‘s top pick seemed to be their waffles and the eggs Benedict. There are some things that the bag lady does that distances themselves from the competition like the unlimited water feature. What they do is they leave a big pitcher of water at the front of the restaurant and what you can do is get up at any time grab a glass and get yourself as little or as much water as you like. For all the beautiful artifacts on the wall there a story behind some of them. They have a lot of people drop them off as donations, and they also try to get as many as they can at auctions and things like that as well. The owner Jane Bettie has 1 cook and 5 servers that rotate through. They are not heavy staffed and that really keeps the family aspect to the restaurant. Something else that is really cool is the fact you can see everything that‘s going on. You can literally see them washing the dishes and cooking your food. That helps the customer knowing there being able to see how the restaurant is run and operated. All in all if you get a chance definitely try to visit the bag lady. They are located at 474 pall mall st.
