The London fashion scene was taken by storm by a fundraiser. Fearless Gyals Unite is an organization that centers around girl power. The organization put together a fashion show fundraiser this weekend where all the money and donations will be given to help with Bohemian relief efforts.
Shawny McKenzie, who is also Ms. Galaxy London, was one of the main organizers at the event.
“We decided to put on this event to help out back home because we have the resources in Canada, were very fortunate and lucky to have electricity, I can’t street that enough and running water. I remember being at home without electricity so I know how others feel,” McKenzie shared.
Some of the brands modeled were; Living legends and Nico, both of which are London based brands. McKenzie shared that it’s a good opportunity for designers and performers to “Come together for a good cause.” The fashion show was concluded with local artists coming up to perform songs including; Tica Holiday, Teef, and Meeno Giinchy
Entry to the event was free with five donations, the flyer offered a list of items needed including canned goods, diapers and deodorant. McKenzie shared that “A little does go along way because there are people that lost everything.” The event also sold food and drinks and held raffles where all the money made was also given to the cause.
The event took place just three weeks after hurricane Dorian hit and many people in the Bahamas are still in need of help. McKenzie shared that she hopes to continue doing fundraisers for this cause as well as others to give back to the community and her home.
