All have heard the story of Cinderella, but no one has ever heard about Bob, her long lost twin brother.
Cinderella and Bob are both thrilled but forbidden to attend the festivities that changed their lives. A hilarious send-up of “Cinderella,” TWINDERELLA was presented at the Spriet Family Theatre in London, Ontario.
Eryn Singh the director of Twinderella and Cinderella kids at original kid’s theatre company says, featuring Bob in the story adds a new comic element to an originally romantic story.
“It is hilarious actually, provides for a lot of comic relief, and then bob has to do silly things like he knits during the show, he has to do windows, he has to organize sock drawers, he has to make a reef out of dried herbs from Arthur Stuart living, all very hilarious elements that the stepfather and step brothers have asked him.” Eryn says.
She furthers, “It gives a more of a male dominant role in what normally is a female dominant show. So, I thought that would add a nice little element to be more equal for the show.” Also, “It’s much more comedy than a romance for sure. And that’s what makes it more appealing at the end of the show the narrator of the show says, we don’t want any kiss due to the kids in the audience, so it skips right to the happy ending.”
Chloe Morehouse, playing Cinderella in the show, told XFM how she got the main lead role of Cinderella.
“So, I did an audition with a song when will my life begin from tangled and a monolog, I forget which one it was. After I think a week or so, they put out the cast list and it said the Cinderella one first and then later on an email said, the Twinderella and I was so happy and when the Cinderella cast came out, I cried.
I thought it would be easier but I think it’s been really fun because, ever since I knew I got Cinderella, I was just really really happy.” Morehouse said.
Singh, the Director of the show says, they have five different versions of Cinderella, and furthers more about their acts, Cinderella and Twinderella.
“Our show the Twinderella is our first act. It’s a play and it features Cinderella and her twin brother bob. So, it’s a story of the both of them finding true love. There is a baseball game, there’s a ball, all the things that everybody could really enjoy seeing. It’s very funny, step father, step mother, step brothers, step sisters, and it’s a very comedic first act.”
“Our second act features Cinderella from Disney’s Cinderella and it’s a kid’s version, a bridged version, mostly songs, so we have got our drama and comedy the first act and then our musical the second act. It’s quite lovely and everybody recognizes music from the second act. So, you get that dancing and the singing and it really is a very appealing show for kids of all ages.” Singh says.
