The Democratic Socialists of Canada held an introductory meeting in London i.e. the national headquarter of DSC for the people to get familiar with the idea of socialism.
Rodger Moran Editor in chief of the New Left Magazine for the Democratic Socialist of Canada (DSC) says The DSC started about 6 weeks ago and they have started to build out chapters through out the country.
“This is sought of who wants to come out and learn about what we are doing and get involved and tired of the way that politics are going. We are putting up sought of the idea of everybody to come in and learn and be a part of something if they want to,” Moran says.

‘The DSC believes that both the economy and the society should be equal and should be run democratically’
“It’s one of our core beliefs is that you know the people, when it comes to things like energy, and water and things like that are publicly owned we are very much against the privatization of those things. And think all those main aspects of the economy should be in the people’s hands,” Rodger Moran says. “The idea is that we work together with whoever is running for government and sought of push our ideas and try to get gradual change towards the things the people want to see,” he says.
He furthers, they are not a political party, not affiliated with any political party and are non-partisan.
“The idea is that we work together with whoever is running for government and sought of push our ideas and try to get gradual change towards the things the people want to see,” he says.
Rob McGarry an attendee and a Fanshawe Journalism graduate says he came to find out a little bit more about the DS movement within Canada and specifically within the local London area.
“I thought I would just come out and get to know and meet other people who have different views then myself, actually listen to them,” McGarry says.
He says a lot of the political discourse today is a lot of us against.
“I think it’s nice to go out and have an open discussion and meet people who may have common views and common interests,” he says.
Rodger Moran says, they are open to whoever has ideas.
“If they want to bring in progressive ideas if and how to make things a little more equal because they certainly aren’t and if you are tired and want to see things changed,” Moran says.
