Grooves Records, a local record store had to deal with some uncomplying customers.
Those certain customers were a group of anti-maskers who felt it was their right to not follow the requirements of the store to wear masks and gloves to view and look through the records.
The store has taken extra precautions since reopening and even offer in-store assistance and deliveries around the city.
“Everybody’s wearing a mask before they come in. And then we also require gloves. Just, you know, we’re a record store, you have to touch lots of stuff in our store to be able to properly look through, right. So we’ve taken the extra step of requiring customers to wear gloves.” Owner Troy Hutchinson, explains why the extra steps are needed in protecting his staff and every customer that comes into the store.
Troy stated that most customers have been compliant with the extra safety precautions, and he and his staff try to accomodate every customer. Unfortunately, there was one customer that came into the store and didn’t feel it was necassary to follow the requirements at all.
This customer was a man who insisted on not wearing a mask and refused to listen to the staff. Troy and his staff eventually got the man to leave, only to have him return the next day with a group of individuals who all felt it was their right to not listen to the rules of the store.
This group turned out to be anti-maskers who would not leave the store upon the request of Troy and his staff, no matter how much they asked. It wasn’t until Troy had to call the police that the group left, only for them to wait outside and boast about their rights. The group then went online to post bad reviews of the store and of Troy, to try and bring down the business.
But that did not last for long, as many around the community of London joined together to write 5-star reviews and share their own wonderful experiences of the store online. Troy was very thankful to have the community’s back and to move on from this incident.
“For all the people that had our backs, that were looking out for us, and giving us all the support and love. I just want to say thank you. I want to keep giving it back to London. We’ve always tried to give back to the community, specifically the music and arts community, but we’re gonna keep doing that, with extra gusto. We’re feeling the love, and we love you back London.”
