The Fanshawe Falcons softball team heads to Windsor tonight.
The fledgling Falcons squad is taking on the St. Clair Saints and trying to get back in the win column after dropping five of their last six.
Head coach Catherine Arthur says St. Clair is a good chance to play an established opponent.
“They’ve definitely [been in] the top [tier] the last couple years in the OCAA,” Arthur says. “I think it’s going to really gauge where we are in the season.”
It’s the first ever season for Falcons softball — and for many players, the first ever experience in college athletics.
Despite that, Arthur says they’re looking to compete.
“We don’t want to be that last team in the league; we don’t want to make this a building year,” Arthur says. “We want to make this a year that we establish ourselves in the league, so we want to come off the block strong and really beat some teams here.
The Falcons are fourth in the seven-team league right now and just two games back of .500.
