Yasi Farshad formally attended Western University along side drunk driving victim Andrea Christidis. After the crash, she has been determined to keep the positive image of her best friend alive. Western University, however, has made this mission difficult, as their, now fired, legal team released a statement saying that Andrea was “the author of her own misfortune.”
She believes that Western has not shown enough empathy for their former student.
“The very school Andrea loved and was so proud to be a part of, said all these bogus, hurtful claims about her that are very untrue, and that to me is very disappointing. When push came to shove, money came before humanity and compassion.”
She goes on to say that there was no way that Andrea could have prevented her own death.
“She didn’t move into that danger. He was going over 100 km/h. She had no chance, no time to save herself. No other human being in that exact same situation could have.”
Western has claimed that their former lawyer had released a statement on their behalf, before consulting with them. The university called Christidis’ death “a tragedy”.
Students Against Impaired Driving Western has created a petition on Change.org that currently has over 27,000 signatures which demands for a proper and respectful statement of defence for the Christidis family.
