Over 1,550 school counsellors and university admission professionals from about 90 countries will spend the rest of the week discussing global education.
This year the focus is to improve support for students when selecting their academic programs and global destination.
Olympic athlete Damien Warner, from London, was the keynote speaker set to open the 26th annual conference.
“It’s a pleasure for me to open the ceremony. Sharing my experience about going through school and being able to speak with guidance counsellors, I think there are some similarities and there are many things that can be take away from our stories,” he says.
The International Association of College Admission Counseling (International ACAC) facilitates members time to connect, learn and share with one another in different venues around the world.
Berthna Baxley, a high school guidance counsellor in Florida, United States says she is super excited to learn about how other schools help students make their choices about pursuing secondary education.
“It is my first time joining ACAC. Everyone is so welcoming. Within the first 30 minutes, I am already talking to college and high school educators from around the world, it’s incredible.”
“I am really excited I get to learn more since I work with a large population of international students and so I would love to hear other perspectives and know more what’s going on in the advising and admissions world,” adds Baxley.
