As Ontario students look ahead to a semester of online and in-person classes, Fanshawe College is rolling out a guarantee to all its students in a new four-part promise. The school released a new web page outlining the Fanshawe Experience Guarantee along with a video from president Peter Devlin.
President Devlin said Fanshawe is doing everything possible to ensure student success in the fall.
“This guarantee builds on our commitment to providing the best educational experience possible,” he said in the video.
Exceptional Learning Guarantee
Firstly, the college is reaffirming its commitment to educational success by offering online programs that Devlin said will still provide students with the necessary skills to prepare them for a career.
If students feel they would rather wait until in-person classes are an option, Fanshawe will defer your tuition payments until a later semester.
Last month, Fanshawe unveiled its plan for fall learning which included some programs using a mixed-model and others switching to an entirely online format.
Academic Commitment
Fanshawe guaranteed that educators would continue to strive to offer assistance and feedback to help students achieve success. Devlin said students could expect online live access to professors weekly, while program coordinators and academic advisors will be available by online appointment for student assistance.
“Fanshawe faculty are committed to helping you learn the skills that will make you successful,” said Devlin. “Your classes will be taught by the same highly trained professionals.”
Student Supports
Fanshawe will ensure students have access to career advice, tutoring, personal and academic counselling, financial assistance and technical help. The college said they are committing to responding to questions from students within a 24-hour period and that customer service hours will be extended.
The supports also extend to international students.
“Student life coordinators will help you navigate immigration hurdles, study permits, work permits, and connect you with our signature Fanshawe Cares arrival service program,” said Devlin.
Devlin added that all students will have the opportunity to work with their own personal career coach.
Health and Safety Commitment
Finally, for students who will be attending the college for in-person classes, Fanshawe is continuing to follow advice from health officials on safety protocols. This will include intensive cleaning, a limited numbers of staff and students on campus, physical distancing and mechanisms to report and track health status.
“If you are required to be on campus this fall, we want you to feel confident, secure, and ready to learn,” said Devlin.
