The Salvation Army Kettle Drive runs annually throughout December. If you happen to pass one in London today, there’s a good chance the volunteers running it are realtors. Today, the London and St Thomas Association of Realtors (LSTAR) lends a hand to the program that does so much for the community. LSTAR CEO Bill Madder explains how his group gets involved on the front lines.
“This year we have 80 of our members attending at 27 different locations throughout the city. Our involvement is taking place today, so a very busy day. A lot of our members are out there very anxious to get to helping out with the drive.”
The Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign is easily one of Canada’s largest and most recognizable charity events. The campaign sees over 2,000 kettles set up across the country, and donations support a wide variety of Salvation Army programs. The drive is so beneficial to so many Londoners, especially after the difficulties surrounding the pandemic have been detrimental to so many individuals.
“It’s very important, and like I’ve said we’ve more than happy to support their drive and their initiative for many years, and we hope they will continue. This has been a difficult year for a number of non-profits and organizations such as theirs, and its more important than ever to support.” said Madder.
As mentioned, non profit organizations have certainly taken a hit as a result of the pandemic. If you are able to, donations can be made at any Salvation Army kettle, or directly through their website.
