The London airport has still not been cleared for international flights. Ottawa announced earlier this week that international flights will be allowed to land in 8 more Canadian airports from Nov 30th but the London airport did not make the list. Local authorities feel there is no legitimate reason behind the London airport not being cleared when airports with similar capacity have been given the green light.
London Airport CEO, Mike Seabrook said, “I am not sure why we are not on the list,” as airports in cities smaller than London have made the cut to host international flights.
“We are very disappointed by the announcement by the Minister of Transport, it’s going to have a negative effect on our business, we can’t operate our winter flights to the Caribbean and Florida. We were hopeful that we were included on the list.”
Seabrook is working with the mayor and federal politicians to try to get this issue resolved. He also thinks that this decision is exposing Londoners who wish to travel internationally to a higher risk of the virus.
