There’s been too many stories of people getting roofied or harassed at bars. Especially in the last few months, story after story of terrible incidents. People are going out with friends for a good time, they should not be made feel to constantly check over their shoulders or cover their drink at all times.
In this article we will be talking about how to prevent and keep each other safe at bars.
A bartender, who’s wishes is to stay anonymous, shares their protocols that she and the bar she works at, follow.
“In terms of smart serve, not over-serving people, not serving minors, making sure that patrons don’t get rowdy. If they do, like they will get drunk, that table hopping doesn’t happen, especially with COVID.”
There are ways that the bartender can prevent situations like that from happening.
“We prevent these situations from happening, essentially, by making sure that once the bartender makes the drink and it’s in a secure place before the server gets handed the drink. Then we bring it to the table. Unfortunately, I wish we could give patrons drink covers because that would prevent a lot of incidents.”
