2022 is set to be one of the most significant years in entertainment history. Massive projects that have been planned for years are now set to come to light and astound us. Everything from movies to music will impact us in ways you could only dream about. This year will be so big that it will take more than just one article to cover it all. This will be a four-part series showing you why you should be excited for 2022. Each part will be released daily over the next four days, with the final part releasing on January 16th. Part three is here, and it showcases tv shows.
The TV Show scene has only grown in recent years with the continued rise in streaming platforms. Platforms like Amazon Prime, Disney +, Netflix, and Apple TV run the game. This year will be no different as these streaming giants are set to release some unbelievable shows. Although there are not many details released about these shows, they are coming this year.
The Book of Boba Fett
The year started with a bang with the premiere of Disney +’s The Book of Boba Fett. The Book of Boba Fett is an ongoing series that details the return of Boba Fett after this return in season 2 of The Mandalorian. The show has Temuera Morrison playing the role of Boba Fett. New episodes are released weekly every Wednesday on Disney +. There have already been three episodes so far this season.
Kenobi
Despite what you may think of the Star Wars Prequels, one of the highlights of those films was Ewan McGregor’s role as Obi-Wan Kenobi. This new series from Disney + details Kenobi’s journey after the prequel films. Many things have been teased to occur in this show, but not much has been made official. All that is known is that Ewan McGregor will reprise his role. The show is expected to release on Disney + sometime in 2022.
House of the Dragon
After Game of Thrones fans were disappointed with Season 8, a prequel series was announced. This prequel series is set to dive into the story of the Targaryen civil war about 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones. Matt Smith has been cast in the lead role as Daemon Targaryen. The show is expected to release sometime in 2022.
Marvel TV Shows
Marvel will be busy this year continuing their stretch of streaming dominance. The previous year saw them release shows like Wanda-Vision, Falcon & The Winter Soldier, Loki, & Hawkeye. This year the list is even more extensive with shows like Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, What If…? Season 2, and Secret Invasion. These Marvel shows connect to the MCU in the movies and will release within the following calendar year.
Untitled Lord of the Rings Series
The Lord of the Rings is set to return in a big way on Amazon Prime. The story will be placed before the events of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings movie series. The show does not have an official title yet. All that is known is that the show will be about heroes confronting the long-feared reemergence of evil in Middle Earth, carving out legacies that will live on long after they are gone. This show will likely be one of the high points of tv shows in 2022. The show is expected to release September 2nd.
