2022 is set to be one of the most significant years in entertainment history. Massive projects that have been planned for years are now set to come to light and astound us. Everything from movies to music will impact us in ways you could only dream about. This year will be so big that it will take more than just one article to cover it all. This will be a four-part series showing you why you should be excited for 2022. Each part will be released daily over the next four days, with the final part releasing on January 16th. This is the last part, and it is about movies.
After the pandemic delayed multiple blockbuster films, 2022 is set to be the year that puts the movie industry back on track. Whether it be a brand new movie or a continuation of a classic series, 2022 has something in store for everyone.
The Batman
Robert Pattinson is ready to put all the doubters to bed as he stars as Bruce Wayne in The Batman. Much of the talk of this film has been whether Pattinson could play the role of the caped crusader. However, after the most recent trailer release, it looks as if Pattinson is set to shock many diehard Batman fans. His story acts as an early tale of Batman’s legacy, only a few years after putting on the mask. The movie’s villain appears to be The Riddler, but fans speculate there could be some higher power lurking in the shadows. The Batman is expected to release on March 4th.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
After the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange pays for his actions in the film in a big win. The new movie is set to debut the Multiverse that has been alluded to in past MCU films. It is unknown to what extent the Multiverse will be shown, but when it is in the film’s title, you have to expect it to play a crucial part. If the recent trailer is also anything to go by, it looks as if we will get a very in-depth look at the Multiverse. This film is also expected to be the MCU’s first attempt at an actual horror film. The trailer reveals that the Scarlet Witch will accompany Strange on this adventure. After the events of Wanda-Vision, Scarlet Witch will be a fascinating character to keep an eye on. The film is expected to be released on May 6th.
Uncharted
After becoming one of the most beloved game series of all-time, Uncharted is set to hit the big screen. Tom Holland has been cast as Nathan Drake in the lead role. Mark Wahlberg has also been cast as Drake’s partner Sully. The Uncharted series is a breathtaking adaptation of classic tomb raiding films like National Treasure, Indiana Jones, and The Mummy. The treasure that Nathan and Sully are looking to find will be a fortune lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago. The film is expected to release on February 18th.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
If you have been desperate for some more adventures inside the world of Harry Potter, don’t worry; Warner Bros. has you covered. The third installment of the Fantastic Beasts story is here, bringing Dumbledore front and center. The film is expected to explain the past and origin of Hogwart’s famous headmaster. After a rocky production, it is unknown if the Fantastic Beasts story will still span five movies. That was the original plan, but things can change. The main controversy with this film came when Johnny Depp was let go from the film and replaced by Mads Mikkelsen. Mikkelsen will now play the central villain role of Grindelwald. This film is also going to take us back to Hogwarts. However, this will be an older version of Hogwarts, many years before the Harry Potter film series events. The film is expected to be released on April 15th.
Jurassic World: Dominion
After the Jurassic Park franchise has entertained fans for decades, it appears it is coming to an end. After the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the Dinosaurs have escaped and are now living amongst us. This movie is expected to explore this concept and answer whether humans and Dinosaurs could co-exist. My guess is likely not. Chris Pratt will be back in his role and franchise veterans Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern. The collection of the franchise’s current and past stars coming together teases some conclusion that will put a bow on the entire thing. The film is expected to release on June 10th.
Thor: Love & Thunder
Thor: Love & Thunder is one of the more secretive movies on this list. We know a few things about the film. First, Natalie Portman will reprise her role as Jane Foster. She will also be playing Lady Thor, a modern take on the classic Thor character. Anyone’s guess how this could happen, but don’t worry, Chris Hemsworth will be back as Thor as well. The villain of the film is unknown. Right now, there isn’t even any footage of the film released. This is all we currently know. The film is expected to release on July 8th.
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Part One)
After the massive popularity of Into the Spider-Verse, it was only a matter of time until Sony blessed us with a sequel. Across The Spider-Verse will be a two-part animated cinematic event that will take the idea of the Spider-Verse much farther. Judging by the trailer, one key difference seems to be that instead of different universes coming to Miles Morales, he will be the one traveling this time. The film is also expected to be the cinematic debut of Spider-Man 2099, one of the more popular versions of Spider-Man from the comics. The teases for potential cameos in this movie have been wild as well. Rumors have pointed to everyone from Tom Holland himself to Yuri Lowenthal, who is the voice of Spider-Man in the PlayStation games. Whether the cameos come true is yet to be seen, but this movie will be another Spider-Man blockbuster film. The film is expected to release on October 7th.
Avatar 2
As of right now, there is not any footage of Avatar 2 released. That is crazy knowing this film has been in production since the first Avatar film, which came out in 2009. Twelve years is a long time to make a movie, but it appears James Cameron likes to take his time. When the first Avatar film came out, it took advantage of an audience that had not experienced the new 3D technology. That same 3D technology is relatively standard today. It will be interesting if audiences flock to see the Avatar sequel. But then again, maybe James Cameron has some cutting-edge new technology up his sleeve that will change the game once again. You never honestly know what to expect. We understand that the film is expected to be mostly underwater, and it will release on December 16th.
