It has been a rough couple of months for Call of Duty: Warzone. At one point, it was the top multiplayer game in the world. It currently sits as a realization of how important it is to take care of your employees. Unfortunately, the game itself has spiraled into a mess due to a lack of fixing or managing bugs. This is because those workers responsible for this are too busy revolting against their own company.
To get an idea of how the gaming community feels about the state of Warzone, I reached out to players of all skill levels. Unfortunately, this problem is affecting everyone.
Die-hard gamer Blake Walser feels that the state of Warzone keeps getting worse. “It seems they go 1 step forward, but then take nine steps back.” Walser continued describing how fixing something usually results in them breaking another. “They fix some stuff, but now I am just crashing at the menu. I can barely play the game. Sometimes when I win the game, my wins do not even count. It is super frustrating. This is a game I love, and it’s making me not want to play it.”
To get an idea of exactly what problems there are in Warzone, I asked gamers for a list of everything wrong with the game. This is the complete list:
- Pixel artifacts widely labeled as ‘Alien Guns’
- Crashing of systems/consoles mid-game
- Freezing mid-game
- Disappearing in-game objects (ex., Cars, Fences, Buildings, Trees)
- Invisible player skins
- Spawning without weapons
- Spawning with invisible weapons
- Exploit spots letting players hide under the map
- Freezing at Buy Station locations
- Permanent controller disconnection
Walser concluded the topic by sharing he is confused about the whole situation. “I don’t know how this happened. It is crazy to think that a game that makes over $2-billion-dollars a year is this broken. When a game like Warzone is as profitable as it is, you would think the best of the best are fixing it.”
Game Streamer Official_Viking6 used to play Warzone all the time on stream. He shares why that is no longer the case. “My standing point on Warzone is we’ve watched it decimate and compete alongside Fortnite & Apex Legends. Before, with the rise of file sizes, meta changes, and tons of hackers, Warzone has still come out on top. This was also around the time a global pandemic started, and Warzone was a haven for many during the tough times of covid. Now, the whole meta change, new map, new guns, and new bugs have ruined it. In addition, there are a lot of issues that came alongside the new update of Caldera.”
The Warzone Pacific update accompanied by a new map and new guns is called ‘The Death of Warzone.’ This is the moment that all the problems reportedly started. Game Streamer BrodieSchwartz adds that some of these problems are exclusive to consoles like the PlayStation and Xbox. “Warzone is currently in a rough state for all console players. The game runs decently well on the PC platform, but it feels like they are not working too much towards improving gameplay. I have console buddies who constantly crash every few games. This should not be happening for as long as it has been.”
Even large streamers are not enjoying the Warzone experience. Some have gone as far as losing some of their viewership just because they choose to not play the game.
I've officially uninstalled Warzone.
In the future, my content will be Fortnite, Halo, Apex, Valorant, and any other game that I want to play.
Good riddance.

I'm embarrassed to be a CoD player right now.
It seems like everything from Challengers, CDL, and Warzone are down badly right now. I could name a million things wrong with Warzone, but what's the point…
Part of me wants to stop playing until the game is fixed, but idk.

BrodieSchwartz continues with what they need to do to get the game back on track. “They need to focus on improving the experience for all players right away. One of the other big problems Warzone is currently seeing is hackers. Somehow they have found a way around the brand new Ricochet Anti-Cheat and are running as rampant as ever. This will always be a struggle for any free-to-play game, but it seems it is more prevalent in Warzone.”
Most Warzone gamers are begging for a return to the game before the Pacific update. After Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision, players hope that a bright future for Warzone is on the way. But, unfortunately, as of right now, all we have is a pledge to fix the game.
