Fanshawe Ultimate Esports League (FUEL) had the opportunity to stream a Rocket League tournament this past weekend for Esports Canada. Eight top teams in Canada faced off for the final tournament, all match ups were best out of three and best out of five series for the final match up. All teams were fired up and ready to play each other and the fans were ready to watch to see who would be victorious and come on top of the final tournament. In the grand-finals it ended up to be the Rocket Royals and the Panthers. Both teams fought well and the Rocket Royals ended up winning the best out five series match. This gave a taste for the students on how competitive it is on Canada’s Esports side of Rocket League.
Fanshawe’s Rocket League Manager Nick “Shadow” Ewer and Fanshawe’s caster Matt “Baddest” Berney were the commentators for the event. Esports has been starting to grow in popularity in Canada and the stream Fanshawe hosted got around 400 views. Shadow says ” I think that Rocket League itself is just kind of the ultimate Esport like it truly Blends Sports and video games”. Rocket League is an easier video game to follow in comparison to Call of duty, or even League of Legends. With the simplicity of the game, Rocket League gains strong viewership and gives a reason for fans to come and show their support to the players.
Fanshawe’s Rocket League teams are finishing up their season in the NECC league. The T1 team got knocked out against MSOE Raiders and Fanshawe’s Rocket league T2 team recently played in their NECC international match-up against Dalhousie Black. The Baddest mentioned that he believes the T2 team has a strong chance against Dalhousie. In the NECC league, Dalhousie has eight wins one loss and the T2 team has nine wins and zero losses. Dalhousie ended up driving off with the win making it the end of the road for the T2 team in the NECC league. Keep an eye out on the Fanshawe Falcons twitch as more events get on the way over the summer.
