Take Back the Night held its annual walk in the downtown core to help raise awareness about sexual abuse and women’s safety.
The walk took place by London City Hall as organizers gathered with signs prepared to walk around Victoria park, chanting for people passing by.
Event organizers Katelyn Goslin and Yamile Albarracin talked with attendees as they prepared for the walk.
“More people should know that everyone should be able to walk at night alone and feel safe,” said Katelyn
She went on to talk about how the city could help improve community safety, especially in the downtown core.
“Definitely more streetlights, more security, more police awareness. Cleaning up the streets just makes it more of a friendly safe space,” she said.
There for the walk also included newly elected London Mayor Josh Morgan, who is there to show his support along with some of his staff members.
“I’m here supporting our employee resource group, a really important event,” he said as he went to chat with organizers at the event.
