The Fanshawe men’s varsity volleyball team lost to the Humber Hawks in the OCAA Finals with the Fanshawe team coming into the tournament at the number one position in the power rankings. Fanshawe, getting silver, have still qualified for nationals with a chance for revenge. One player looking for that opportunity is Jack Voght.
“I use these moments to light a fire in me and learn from the experience… I don’t know if it just fuels my passion.” Jack on the defeat in the finals.
Jack is a 2nd year outside hitter for the Falcons and when describing his story he said that volleyball was not his first choice of sport however he grew to love it during high school.
“I was never the biggest player or strongest but I have always had a good mind set and love to outwork my opponents.
Jack mentioned that Fanshawe was his first choice school after receiving multiple offers from other programs in and around Ontario which he took a gamble on moving away from his home in Ottawa.
The loss humbled Jack as he said that it sucked not capturing gold but it’s an experience that he will take, learn and grow as he enters nationals
