The final day to submit food to the London Food Bank Spring Food Drive is approaching, with the bank accepting donations through the week of Easter Monday.
106.9 The X is chipped in by running a drive through food drive on the morning of April 6th, to help contribute to their efforts.

London Food Bank Co-Director Jane Roy was present at The X’s food drive, and she noted little events that extend outreach make a difference “Outreach is really important. We (The London Food Bank) can’t be everywhere. The more that people do food drives and bring it in, you know, the one can of tuna adds up.”
According to Roy, “The London Food Bank’s been around for 37, 38 years and we’ve never been busier. March was our busiest month on record. We helped 5454 families, which is 14-thousand, 15-thousand Londoners.”
Jane mentions how the food bank has a “ying and yang” like function with the community “The difficulty (ying) obviously is so many Londoners need help, so many students, you know from all walks of life. So many single moms, so many folks. The “yang” is the fact that so many Londoners are so generous.”
The Spring Food Drive “officially” ended on Easter Monday (April 10th), but Roy noted “ We know lots of times people forget during food drives, so we basically count any food that comes to us that week.”
With rising food prices, the food bank can expect to see more London families in need of assistance.
