The Union of European Football Associations or UEFA has Award the 2028 and 2032 EURO during ceremony at the House of European Football in Nyon by UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin announced it today.
The bid for 2028 was presented by United Kingdom and Ireland. Original Turkey had a bid however Turkey pull their bid out to join a joint bid with Italy for 2032 ultimately winning the bid for EURO 2032.
The venues for the UK are holding six venues with the city being Manchester, London, Liverpool, Newcastle and Birmingham. London has two venues with Tottenham Stadium and Wembley. Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all holding venue each. Headlining theirs is the historical Hampden Park in Glasgow and the 73 thousand seater Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Northern Ireland is building a new stadium as result of the bid.
Northern Ireland Football Federation President Nolan Patrick as assured that the British that they have the funds to fund a new stadium for the EURO 2028.
Euro 2032 bid was much more clear cut being that Italy was the only bidder for the event. Turkey eventually join a joint bid with Italy because they Turkey failed to land a major tournament for four consecutive tournament. Italia Football Federation President Gabriele Gravina about the importance of making Italia Football safer by saying that this a huge opportunity to revolutions the stadium infrastructure in Italia Football.
Italy and Turkey will hold five venues. Five venues for both countries, ten in totally. For Italy the tournament out of the choices in Torino, Milan, Verona, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Roma, Naples, Bari and Cagliari.
Turkey’s choices are three stadiums in Istanbul, Bursa, Trabzon, Konya, Gaziantep, Eskişehir and Antalya.
In a joint statement they said about award the bid “We offer our gratitude to UEFA for giving two countries sharing Mediterranean culture the honor to co-host UEFA EURO 2032.
Italy is hosting the EURO for fourth time and for England this will be third time. Scotland will hold EURO matches for second time. Turkey, Northern Ireland, Wales and Ireland will be all first time hosts to the tournament.
Russia applied to host both tournaments however, were reject because of the war in Ukraine.
