Over the weekend Western students organized a march on UWO’s campus calling on the university to take action as they feel Western is failing to support Muslim and Palestinian students.
Earlier Western fired their Muslim chaplain after saying comments he made on social media did not “align with Western’s commitment to peaceful and respectful dialogue.”
Many of the protesters say that they feel they’re experiencing more islamophobia since the Israel-Gaza conflict ignited.
The aim for the protesters is wanting Western to provide increased support for their Muslim students who may have their mental health impacted. As well as raise awareness to the crisis in Gaza which has resulted in a reported over 8 000 deaths.
