April Wine frontman, Myles Goodwyn, has passed away at the age of 75. April Wine’s legacy had a heavy impact on the Canadian rock music scene, especially during the 80s.
The band first started out in Halifax playing in local venues until climbing in popularity where they played venues across the country, like the famous Toronto bar ‘The Gasworks’. During the height of their popularity Fanshawe professor, John Macintosh, worked in radio.
“I’ve always been a fan of their music. When the 70s came around, you know, it was not long after Canadian content rules had changed and there was a big opportunity for a lot of bands to get commercial airplay. April Wine was one of those rock bands that just kind of stepped forward for my generation” said Macintosh
April Wines legacy on Canada’s rock scene made a massive impact on the generation that grew up listening to their music. The band was inducted into the Canadian rock and roll hall of fame in 2013.
They achieved many milestones during their career, including selling10 million albums world wide.
