London Fire Department responded to a 911 call at 2:30 AM, Sunday March 3rd.
A fire was detected which was found to have started in a basement in one of the townhouses of 191 Boullee Street.
Six tenants were treated by the EMS for smoke inhalation, the fire displaced eight people and eight other dogs. After CPR was sone of the 9 dogs, unfortunately one did not survive.
“The fire is still under investigation, however we are deeming it as non-suspicious,” says the London Fire Department chief, Colin Shewell.
There were reports that there were no fire alarms that went off during the occurrence. Shewell says, “It was determined that there was no working smoke alarms on any floor of the residents and yeah, it’s very important that you know it’s the cheapest way to keep your family safe and that every level of your home needs a fire a smoke alarm.”
Every year the LFD posts and mentions how important it is has to activated, working fire alarms and carbon monoxide alarms near sleeping areas.
“Every year and every fire department in London is on their wheels and most the serious fires that occur injury or even death are totally compared to having working smoke or even feel alarms in the Residence so it’s very important that people are the front line of safety and early notification is key which is the smoke alarms or the carbon oxide alarms,” Chief says.
The Red Cross is working closely with London’s Fire Department and Police Service, in helping look after the displaced tenants.
Those who are facing charges will be set to appear in London Court.
