Fanshawe College students displayed a notable lack of enthusiasm towards the recent election, with many citing other priorities or simply forgetting about the event altogether.
Fanshawe’s student Maruua (preferred not to mention last name) says, “I have not voted yet as I have other things to do that’s why.”
“I just have been busy with school right now, I just got back from the vacation so I just don’t care about the elections”, says Anna Green.
“I am not going to lie, I truly forgot that elections are happening, the most I heard about was that there was a free pizza at one of the debates and I thought about going, and then the day came and I slept through the thing”, says May Houston
Although there was no enthusiasm in the students as last year, many of them are unhappy about Stephen Sathiya leaving the post and are/were concerned about the future of FSU.
Many questioned whether the incoming president could effectively fill Sathiya’s shoes.
Siddharth Singh got the most votes out of three candidates and became the new president of FSU for 2024-25.
So, even though students weren’t super into the election, they still took part, and now Singh has to see how he can handle the job.
