The Western Mustangs extended their win streak to seven games after beating the York Lions 65-28, totaling 742 offensive yards on the night.
Western running back Ethan Dolby set a season-high for the program, hitting 1220 rushing yards. He passes the record set in 1991 by Tim Tindale, who ran 1208 yards.
The Mustangs had a strong start to the game, scoring 21 points in the first quarter. Three players scored, starting with Jerome Rancourt running it in, his 11th of the season. Ethan Dolby followed it up with a rushing touchdown of his own, and Seth Robertson caught a touchdown with no time on the clock to end the quarter.
The next quarter York picked it up, scoring two touchdowns of their own. Western kept up, scoring two of their own, score being 35-14 at halftime. Dolby had a huge run, scoring an 85 yard rushing touchdown in the second.
The Mustangs ran away with the game in the second half, outscoring York 30-14 in the back end.
The Lions quarterback Keagan Hall had a season high, throwing for 405 yards and three touchdowns. Nicholas Adair was his favourite target, having 11 catches for 156 yards and three touchdowns.
Western quarterback Evan Hillock had a big game, throwing for 299 yards and three touchdowns. Four different receivers had over 50 yards for the Mustangs, with Dasani McIntosh having 119 yards and a touchdown. Ethan Dolby built on a dominant season, running for a season high 264 yards and had three touchdowns on the day. He leads the league in rushing yards, having 350 more than the next closest guy.
Western moves up to 7-0 on the season, tied for the one seed with Laurier. Western and Laurier face off in the last game of the season on Saturday, Oct. 18.
