Blue Jays fans across London were up late last night cheering on Toronto in Game 3.
Game 3 for the World Series went 18 innings, totaling six hours and 39 minutes. The Blue Jays tried to hold on for the win, but fell short to a walk-off Freddie Freeman homerun. This marks Freemans second walk off world series run of his career.
The final score was 6-5, with ten scoreless innings after the seventh. Multiple World Series records were broken last night in game 3, including;
- 18 innings ties the most in World Series history,
- 19 combined pitchers were used, most in World Series history,
- 609 total pitches thrown, 48 more than any postseason game since 2000,
- 153 combined plate appearances passes the previous World Series record,
- 37 batters were left on base, 19 from Toronto and 18 from Los Angeles,
- Freddie Freeman became the first player to hit two walk-off home runs in the World Series
The 18 innings ties a 2018 World Series game between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers, which lasted almost an hour longer than this years game 3.
As of Tuesday, the Blue Jays are down 2-1 in the series with two more games to play on the road.
