This week the London Knights hosted the Kitchener Rangers, welcoming back former Captain Sam O’Reilly and defenseman Jared Woolley.
The game started with a jersey ceremony for the former players. It was a physical game, with 14 total penalties. Knights Brody Cook and Rangers Matthew Hlacar had a brawl after a big hit on Knights defenseman Caleb Mitchell.
After the warm welcome from fans, it was game time for the players. The Rangers won 4-3, with O’Reilly scoring the game winner in overtime.
Knights star forward Jaxon Cover said that the mentality stayed the same for this game.
“I learned a lot from them,” Cover said. “But I just take it the same way.”
O’Reilly finished the game with two goals and an assist, while Woolley had an assist himself.
The Knights had three different goal scorers, with Jesse Nurmi, Brody Cook and Ryan Brown all knocking one in.
The Kitchener Rangers currently sit at the top of the Western Conference, while the Knights are 10 points behind in fifth place.
The London Knights will face the Kitchener Rangers again on Feb. 10, in Kitchener.
