Toronto Blue Jays games will have a new voice calling their games.
Buck Martinez, who has called more than 4,000 total Blue Jays games, is retiring at 77 years-old.
Martinez started broadcasting when he was an active player in 1982 where he called the ALCS, World Series and an all star game for Telemedia.
He also won two Sports Emmy Awards, one was for his work covering Cal Ripken’s 2,131st consecutive game for ESPN in 1995, and the other was for Best Sports Analyst when he covered the Baltimore Orioles from 2003-2009.
Martinez worked five World Series, four World Baseball Classics and multiple all-star games along with post season games.
His final call in his career was Game 7 of the 2025 World Series where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Blue Jays 5-4 in 11 innings in game 7.
This year will be the Blue Jays 50th season and Martinez was hoping to be a part of it but said “it’s time to pass the torch.”
