Ottawa will be investing $84M into electric vehicle chargers so that way people are more inclined to use electric vehicles by estimating an extra 8000 chargers scattered across the country.
$5.7M will be invested into 3 different projects in the Green Freight Program. This is going to help trucks reduce their carbon footprint by using low carbon fuels.
Another $7.2M will be implemented into creating educational programs to help people learn more about EV’s
London currently has 369 electric vehicle chargers according to ChargeHub.com. With this new investment, London could see more charging bays available to the public.
The Canada Infrastructure Bank released a $1.5 billion commitment to develop a new infrastructure strategy.
Natural Resources Canada said 33,000 EV chargers have been installed and more than 18,000 are planned through the Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program.
Travis Allan, president of the Canadian Charging Infrastructure Council said “there is a large investment opportunity here.”
