London’s first Coven Fest took place on Oct. 17 on Dundas block. The fest was a pop-up market with over 30 vendors, featuring tattoos and piercings, tarot card readings, and photo opportunities.
This event was made to connect people, share experience, and grow the alternative and occult community in London. Attendees came from London and surrounding to show their support.
“I came to see the good energy that’s around, see the nice Halloween spirit, the costumes, the vendors, and to show my support.” said Darnell Gomez an attendee who just moved to London.
Vendors and business owners came from all over Ontario to join Coven Fest.
“It’s a nice opportunity just to welcome everybody. Everyone’s in good spirits and it’s nice to see everyone out supporting the community.” said Steve Ianni, the owner of Raven and Rune in Dutton.
“When we travel, we travel with a very small portion so we’ll always bring our incense and smudging. We do mystery bags, blind date with a bag or blind date with a book.” said Jennifer Haralampopoulos, owner of Sacred Spells in Tillsonburg.
Lots of items were on display across vendors including broomsticks, hats, candles, tarot cards, and books with a large majority being handmade.
“Next year I want it bigger and better. I want double the vendors, to expand, to bring Hex House to a household name, and I want the community in London to know there’s always a place.” said Katey Sawyers, host of Coven Fest and owner of Hex House.
Sawyers also said that she was quite happy with the turnout this year.
