Londoners will be heading back to the polls next year on October 26, 2026, and talk about the election has already started.
Mayor Josh Morgan says he’ll run for another term. He feels there’s still more work to do, especially when it comes to housing, homelessness, and city growth. If he wins, he’ll be the first London mayor in more than ten years to serve two terms in a row.
Right now, it doesn’t look like anyone big is running against him — but that could change closer to election time.
Out of the city’s 14 councillors, 10 have already said they plan to run again. They say they want to keep working on projects they started and continue helping their communities.
The councillors running again are:
Hadleigh McAlister, Shawn Lewis, Peter Cuddy, Susan Stevenson, Corrine Rahman, Steve Lehman, Paul Van Meerbergen, Skylar Franke, Elizabeth Peloza, and David Ferreira.
A few others, including Jerry Pribil, Anna Hopkins, Sam Trosow, and Steven Hillier, have not yet decided.
This election will also feature new ward boundaries, which means that some areas will be reassigned to different wards. That could make things more interesting for both voters and candidates.
People who want to run for mayor or council can start filing their nomination papers on May 1, 2026, and the deadline to enter the race is August 21, 2026.
Even though election day is still a year away, City Hall is already buzzing with early campaign talk.
