With over 100 employers setting up booths at Fanshawe College’s annual Career and Opportunities Fair, the event was packed with job-seekers looking to hand in their resumes and build connections.
The event ran from 9am to 2pm, and garnered a crowd of would be workers looking for jobs in different industries from business, and social work, to landscaping, and food service.
Employers had a common sentiment with the traits they’re looking to hire. “We’re looking for good people,” said Constable Peter Reynolds with the Waterloo Regional Police, “good people who are ambitious for a nice career.”

Elyse Martineau from Kennedy Catering echoed the rhetoric, “The training can come after, we’re just looking for people that are willing to work hard.”

According to the Fanshawe Careers website, the event usually sees an average crowd of 2,000 job seekers.
Students attending the career fair said that seeing employers set-up booths and take in their resumes in person helped make the job market feel less daunting, “I talked to a lot of different companies and overall really good to just be here today”, said Jordan T.
The Career and Opportunities Fair is a yearly event hosted by Fanshawe College for students and alumni to network and connect with employers.
