For those who may not know, a town crier or bellman is an officer of a royal court or public authority who makes public pronouncements as required. Although Bill Paul wasn’t London’s official town crier he was well known and loved by locals as a wonderfully kind soul. Paul was known to attend various events around the city, he appeared as a RibFest judge, and could often be seen making balloon animals for local children. Bill was known for his many endeavors including his very own radio show on Fanshawe College’s own CIXX-FM, his asperations and positive attitude made him an inspiration to many.
Many London Locals have made statements following Bill’s unfortunate passing, this is including London mayor Ed Holder. Ed took to twitter to talk about the true impact that Bill leaves behind him. Below is the tweet made by the London mayor.
I was saddened to learn of the passing of #LdnOnt’s beloved town crier Bill Paul. If you didn’t know the name, you certainly knew the beaming face, and booming voice. Over the years, Bill selflessly and enthusiastically brought joy and laughter to countless numbers of Londoners.
