The London Knights fell 3-1 to The Medicine Hat Tigers yesterday, missing a key opportunity to advance to the championship game of the Memorial Cup. London had a strong start to the game with plenty of chances in the opening of the first period. And at 3:34, Kasper Halttunen’s shot gave The Knights a 1-0 lead.
However, at 5:11 of the second period, Ethan Neutens’ shot tied the game for The Medicine Hat. In the third period at 1:17, Mathew Ward swung to put the Tigers ahead on the scoreboard. In the end, Ryder Ritchie’s shot to an empty net secured the win for the Tigers.
The Knights Fans revealed their excitement during the Preview of the game.
“I’m going to say the score for tonight will be 3-2, Knights. I’m going to cry if we become the champions because I’ve been crying every time they’ve been winning, so I’m going to be happy if those boys bring it home.” Said Linda, a longtime Knights fan.
“I think the score is going to be 4-2, and Denver Barkie is going to score,” said Jordan, a young Knights supporter. “If we go to the finals, we’re going to come here, and we’re going to cheer them on. They’re going to win.“
The Knights are now forced into a semifinal matchup on Friday against the Rimouski vs. Moncton game-winner for another chance to face The Medicine Hat Tigers on Sunday’s final.
