Seized Weapons and Drugs
In a breakthrough, London Police have busted a large-scale drug trafficking operation,
resulting in the city’s biggest-ever fentanyl seizure. Police say they have removed
deadly drugs, illegal firearms, and nearly a quarter-million dollars in cash from the
streets.
The investigation, which started in November 2024, led to six raids across London,
Toronto, and Hamilton on April 29, 2025. Four people were arrested and now face more
than 100 charges combined.
What Was Seized:
1. 34.6 kilograms of fentanyl – a dangerous opioid that can be fatal in very small
amounts
2. 4.6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine
3. Almost half a kilogram of cocaine
4. Five firearms, including handguns and a semi-automatic weapon
5. Over $248,000 in cash
6. Drug-making equipment, like mixing tools, scales, and packaging materials
“This is the largest fentanyl seizure in the history of our police service,” said Detective
Sergeant John Minan, who led the investigation. “The amount of harm that could have
come from these drugs is almost impossible to measure. We’re talking about millions of
doses that could have killed or devastated lives.”
The police also found signs that fentanyl was being processed and packaged in one of
the homes they raided, suggesting a full-scale drug lab was operating. Officers found
protective gear like gas masks and gloves, which shows how dangerous even handling
this drug can be.
Deadly Impact
Fentanyl is up to 100 times more potent than morphine. Just a few grains of it can be
deadly. London Police Chief Thai Truong said the opioid crisis has taken about 120 lives
per year in London alone, with over 80% of those deaths linked to fentanyl.
“Every illegal gun we take off the street, every bag of fentanyl we seize it’s a direct step
toward saving lives,” said Chief Truong. “But we can’t do this alone. It takes
partnerships with the community and support at every level.”
