The union that represents Paratransit workers is in a legal strike position and is threating to walk off the job, and to start picketing.
Ian Davies who represents the workers shared his thoughts with XFM News.
“We’re way too far apart on a deal. They (the workers) are making $18.50 an hour, they’re not even making an affordable living. I’ve heard stories about people living in their cars, using the truck stop to shower and then come into work. They’ll never be able to afford a house, all those nice things in life that they will never be able to afford.”
Davies also went on to share “Right from the early onset, we were told that they couldn’t go to the washroom. It’s a human right to go to the washroom.”
The union is in a legal strike position and will vote on the deal on Sep. 21, but Davies is urging the members not to take the deal.
