Fanshawe College students say getting to class has become a daily struggle because of road construction near campus. Many complain their buses are late almost every day, often by 10 to 15 minutes. For students with early classes or labs, even a short delay can mean walking in late and starting the day stressed. Almost every morning, my bus gets stuck in traffic, and I end up walking into class late, one student said.
Some students say the bus loop changes made things even more confusing. Stops were moved around more than once, and riders say they weren’t given clear information about where to go. “They changed the
bus loop to one area, and then another, and didn’t really give anyone information about it,” one student explained. “I don’t drive. I can’t rely on the bus because if I take it, I’ll be like 20 minutes late and have to leave an hour before. Sometimes I take Uber, and not even Uber knows how to navigate this area—it’s not even updated on Google Maps.
To deal with the delays, many students say they are leaving home earlier and checking the bus app more often. “I leave at least 20 minutes earlier now and always check the app,” another student said. For many, the situation has become part of everyday life. Until the construction is done, students say all they can do is plan ahead, leave early, and hope things get better soon.
