The Milwaukee Brewers celebrated a win this past weekend where attention from fans was drawn to a collision between a reporter and a cameraman in post-game festivities.
MLB on Fox reporter, Ken Rosenthal, went viral for accidentally bumping into photographer, Scott Paulus, and knocking him over in the middle of an interview.
Rosenthal had been interviewing Brewers player, Andruw Monasterio, after his winning hit when fellow team members came over and dumped a bucket of Gatorade on Monasterio’s head.
In an attempt to avoid the splash, Rosenthal stepped backwards and made impact with Paulus who had been crouching on the ground behind him.
Although it seemed to be accidental, Rosenthal’s reaction to the situation has fans igniting on social media.
Instead of helping Paulus up, Rosenthal allegedly gave him a dirty look, shaking his head and walking away. Another staff member then came to help Paulus stand up.
Paulus responded to the incident in an Instagram post Sunday.
The original video on X has earned more than 13.4 million views since its posting.
Fans took to the social platform to share their opinions on the matter, with many posters referring to Rosenthal using insults and shaming him for his actions.
Rosenthal made a statement on Monday morning in an episode of his YouTube Show, Fair Territory.
“When I looked at the video, when I saw this, I was surprised at how upset I appeared,” Rosenthal said.
He explained that he had to quickly return to the interview despite what had happened.
“I felt awful about what happened,” Rosenthal said. “After I went up to Scott… and I apologized, I apologized profusely.”
Rosenthal also stated that FOX does not have the National League playoffs this season, and he will not be returning for a Brewers game unless Milwaukee makes it to the World Series.
