Robert Redford, the famous Hollywood leading actor and activist has passed away at the age of 89.
The New York Times reported his death with confirmation from Cindi Berger, the chief executive of the publicity firm Rogers & Cowan PMK. She said he died in his sleep in Utah.
The star appeared in many films from 1969 to 2017, including popular titles “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”, “The Candidate”, and “All the President’s Men”.
Redford also directed nine films throughout his career, with his debut film “Ordinary People” in 1980 being an Academy Award winner.
His contributions to the film industry and passion for movie-making inspired him to start the Sundance Institute, a non-profit organization that supports independent film and theatre. It is most well-known for its Sundance Film Festival.
He also strongly supported conservation surrounding social and world issues, including climate change, Native American rights, and LGBTQ+ rights.
As of now the cause of death is unknown.
