Power Shift is a free event hosted by London Hydro and the City of London. The event showed off electric cars, e-bikes, solar panels, and heat pumps, giving people the chance to test drive EVs and connect with local businesses offering clean, energy-saving solutions.
Matt Quin from London Hydro said the event brings together local groups and businesses to help people see how easy it is to switch to electric, whether that’s at home or on the road. The City of London was also there, sharing info about programs and rebates that can help make things like heat pumps and solar panels more affordable.
One of the highlights was Matt from the Trek Bicycle Store in London, who brought along a variety of e-bikes for people to try out. He explained that e-bike sales have been booming lately as more people want to get active and enjoy riding with a little extra boost. Whether you want to commute, cruise around town, or hit mountain trails at Fanshawe, there’s an e-bike for everyone.
Miller Nickel from German Solar Corporation also shared his thoughts on the event. His company was invited by London Hydro to help educate people about solar power.“Solar fits perfectly with electric vehicles and the whole Power Shift idea the city is promoting of moving towards cleaner, electric energy,” he said.
At its core, Power Shift is all about helping Londoners make simple, smart choices that are good for the planet and for their wallets. It’s part of the city’s ongoing push to make going green easy, affordable, and something everyone can be a part of.
