The chief is just getting comfy.
In a Monday morning press conference, the London Police Service Board announced that they extended Chief Thai Truong’s contract through to Dec. 31, 2031.
Truong, who has been in the role since 2023 was very thankful for the board’s support of his work.
“It means a lot to me. It means that the board has a lot of trust in me, it means the board appreciates the direction that we’re going, and it means the board is committed to working with me and supporting me to getting our organization where we need to be,” said Truong after the conference.
Since Truong took over as chief, response times have been faster, violent crime rates are down, and many new successful programs have been introduced.
The board is so confident in Truong’s capabilities, that Chair Ryan Gauss stated they would’ve signed him for ten years if they could.

In the next chapter of his career, Truong says the city will be a key player in the continued success of the London Police Service.
“We need the support to make sure that the community is safe, it allows our officers to do their job… we need to be strong and strategic in enforcement… and at the same time, supporting our organization allows us to really embrace crime prevention… if we have support we can partner with community groups and organizations that are already doing that great work.”
With the board’s confidence in Truong as high as ever, the future is now for the London Police Service.
