The OPP took down a repeat offender in the cannabis front.
After shutting down the unlicensed Chief’s Corner dispensary in early September, authorities were notified that the store front continued operations.
The OPP-led Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), and London Police attended the dispensary, once again shuttering the store front to the public.
Investigators seized an estimated $33,000 worth of illegal product.
As a result of the investigation, a 22 year old Southwold resident has been charged with illegal cannabis possession.
The accused was released, and is scheduled to appear in court on October 24.
OPP Detective Inspector Tara Murphy says that these shutdowns are made with safety in mind.
“We want to ensure that they’re consuming responsibly and they’re consuming safely… by looking for the excise stamp that’s always affixed to every product.”
Murphy went onto say that illegal cannabis can contain harmful substances, and money used to purchase illegal cannabis has the power to fund other violent crimes.
Consumers are encouraged to check the packaging before buying any cannabis products, and to verify your supplier is government approved online.
