With the recent heat waves we’ve been getting in early October, it’s a bit unnatural for the temperature to be 28 degrees this late into the year. It even set a new record.
XFM did an interview with Mary Ann from Climate Action London. She says “we’re at the point where we can still make that change, we can stop generating all this heat, if there is the will to do this. And the question is ‘who has the motivation to do this’ and right now I would argue that it’s not the multinational corporations and the oil and gas companies, they’re driven by profits”
She then goes on to say that this can be prevented if everyone works together to solve this issue that’s been ignored for so long. Mary Ann listed off some points such as recycling more, using your car less, start using public transportation and start switching to electric vehicles.
“we’ve lost track of that sense of community and trying to figure out what others need as well. And maybe we need to make a decision that sacrifices our own pleasure” is what Mary Ann said as to why this is happening so much quicker every year.
