As snow fall approaches, many drivers know that it’s time to switch to winter tires.
Snow can be scary for new drivers but the main thing to keep in mind is ensuring your vehicle is up to date on maintenance and having the proper equipment.
insurance claims in Canada increase about 50% during the snowy seasons while 30% of accidents in Canada are just from winter collisions.
It’s not just other drivers that you have to worry about, it’s yourself as well. With most of the incidents in snow being solo accidents, it’s important to know how to remain calm and how to handle scary situations.
A local crossing guard here in London says “Not a lot of people put on their winter tires, and there’s been a couple close calls where I’ll be crossing children and the cars will skid and slide almost hitting the kids”
The crossing guard also mentions that a previous guard did get hit from similar incidents and had to resign from his job.
